SpeechBubble support Team Retrak London to Paris Cycle ride

We were delighted to do our bit for a long standing client of ours when Retrak’s Chair David King and CEO Diarmuid Ó Néill set out on their recent mammoth 300mile London to Paris cycle ride to raise £1,000’s in aid for Retrak’s projects.  As part of our support we commissioned and provided snazzy team kits for the race allowing them to publicise their organisation and the message it stand’s for. The shirts were emblazoned with the message “Every Street child has the inherent right to life…” and we at SpeechBubble™ passionately agree. When asked about the challenge Diarmuid said, “I’ve never done anything like this before and it will be a tough challenge, but it’s nothing compared to the conditions the children we work with face on the streets.”

The route, took around four days to complete, beginning at Bexley in London and travelling through the South Downs towards Dover. The riders jumped on the ferry across the channel, then back on their bikes at Calais to complete the French leg of the journey, the pièce de résistance (only French dialogue in the story!) of the challenge was the finishing line at the Eiffel Tower.

Retrak is a UK based charity that works with street children in Africa to give them a real alternative to life on the street.
Retrak began in Kampala, Uganda in 1994 as a football club providing street children with the opportunity for play and, now their programmes now include education, vocational training, health care, counselling and more, while keeping the much loved football sessions. The common aim of all of Retrak’s programmes is to work with the children as individuals, with their own individual hopes and circumstances, to enable them to take their place back in the community and, where possible, within their own families. You can find out about more about Retrak and how to support them at www.retrak.org.

Earlsmere visit Bubble HQ

Last week we hosted a visit from our valued UK business partners Earlsmere. Rob and Ian jumped on a plane and came to Belfast to exchange pleasantries and further develop our business activities. Earlsmere have developed an innovative software platform called ToolMinder for monitoring hand arm vibration for workers using tools and equipment.

Bubble and Earlsmere are currently working on a joint project to deliver a web based solution where OEM s in the equipment sector can upload vibration data on new and existing tools so that customers can make the best tool selections for the job. If you want more information about ToolMinder or the new web solution, please contact Rob Davies at Earlsmere.

Needless to say we also found the time to show our visitors around our home city of Belfast including the dry dock where Titanic was built and some of our more colourful historic sights.

What do 93 Million Coke cans look like?

That question can only be answered by visiting the UACan factory in Saudi Arabia.  UACan produce a staggering 1.4 Billion cans every year.   When we met with Paul Whiffing (General Manager) and his team earlier this month, we were amazed to see such a mammoth enterprise in operation.   The factory operates 24Hrs a day, so there’s no surprise to know that the team at UACan take safety very seriously.    We are delighted to embark on a close working project where the Safety message will be clearly presented to staff and visitors by a series of animated presentation loops in English & Arabic.

Displayed in various locations across the site including the main reception and staff canteen, a series of themed topics will be addressed, ensuring that important Health & Safety issues are constantly being brought to the forefront of everyone’s attention. This represents a first for SpeechBubble™ in Saudi Arabia – the first of what we hope will be lots of bespoke projects, delivering key messages using the SpeechBubble™ multilingual platform.
